Since coming to BC in January of 2000, Leave Out ViolencE has been a crucial
and unique resource for youth who have been victims, witnesses and/or
perpetrators of violence. The goal is to provide youth a safe place where
they can talk about their lives, and we can help educate each other on
positive and viable alternatives to violence. At the heart of everything
LOVE youth do is a commitment to voicing their views on the causes, impacts,
repercussions and prevention of youth violence.
Through our Photojournalism program, we offer youth a solid foundation to
develop strategies for overcoming violence by becoming reporters on youth
culture. LOVE youth learn to offer constructive and creative critiques on
the world around them, while also looking at the global impact of violence
and media awareness.
Leadership training builds on the youth's own experiences and understanding
of violence. Through weekly workshops and skills training, LOVE youth are
prepared to travel throughout the region, facilitating in Outreaches where
they share their own stories of how violence has impacted their lives. LOVE
youth leaders have delivered their message of non-violence to over 10,000
youth in BC.
